[1] Threadneedle – requiring upgrade of audio capture: There have been Live 15 broadcasts since the beginning of the Co-video lockdowns in March 2020 In November, started exploring the glitch (Kelly, 2011) dimension for solo performances / these are then taken down for editing (not left for later viewing) like a presentation collection keeps it ephemeral – refer to Curhams comments in Realtime.

[3] with Nick Dan, Michael Donnelly, Richard Fielding (who gave me a 2 gold audio discs) on the drive from Lismore to Brisbane through the drought hills – show a map  was a founding member of the Australian electronic dance group Severed Heads in 1979 in Sydney. He has been a member of other experimental, avant garde music groups such as Z-Glutz, The Loop Orchestra and Budgie Woops! He has had a career as a radio presenter on various New South Wales stations. Biography[editRichard Fielding trained as a radio presenter in the mid-1970s with Korg Pally Oskin, Ian Borri Okem, Rusty Nails and Peter Doyle, as part of a Sydney inner city (informal) group of "radio bad boys" called "The Thrifty Tones". He started as a presenter using the moniker 'Old Siddeley", on 2MBS—part of the "Late Night Collective". On sister station 5MBS with his own show "Yntmppry Yditions" and on Bega Station 2BE, co-hosting the 'Good Morning Ghostbusters" program with local Bega star Ian Wright. His longest on-air partnership was in the 1980s at Sydney's 2RES-FM with Dan Mayok, on "Anything That's Jandy", which was broadcast Saturday mornings from 6 am – 9 am. His sign-off call was "Have a great day - I know I don't".

In 1979, Fielding formed an electronic dance group, Mr. and Mrs. No Smoking Sign, with Andrew Wright and they were soon joined by Tom Ellard.[1] With Fielding on drum machine and tape loops, Wright on organ and synthesiser and Ellard on tapes they recorded a demo in Fielding's home.[1][2] Renamed as Severed Heads they started recording their first album, Ear Bitten when Wright left in 1979. Fielding departed in 1981 during the recording of the band's second album, Clean.[3] He was also part of an unsuccessful venture called the "5 to 6 Federation" a self-styled "Electronic Green Movement" which proposed all radio stations go off air for 5 minutes every morning from 5:55 am to "clear the airwaves from constant radiowave transmissions". In the latter days of his broadcasting career he was a panel operator and technical producer at community radio station 2SER FM on The Mamma Lena Show and RadioActiviky with Dr Xob Schmottman. Fielding was also a founding member of The Loop Quartet, which was formed in 1982, along with John Blades, Ron Brown and Jaimie Leonarder.[4] During the same year, another group performing with reel-to-reel tape machines, The Loop Orchestra, was formed by Fielding, John Blades and Anthony Maher. In 1983, Peter Doyle joined the group, and this line-up remained until 1997.[5]

[4] https://www.blindside.org.au/sound-series-2019   MATT EARLE: BREAKDANCETHEDAWN  BLINDSIDE SOUND SERIES 2019 is curated by Patrick O’Brien in partnership with LIQUID ARCHITECTURE Fuck the market. Fuck your career and however many hits on your YouTube channel. People come together to play music, share time, eat curry, drink booze. Every year since 2014 BLINDSIDE has invited Liquid Architecture to organise an exhibition under the banner ‘Sound Series’ by artists working in experimental ways with sound and listening. Following incredible shows by Anthony Riddell, Félicia Atkinson, and Gerard Crewdson, among others, we’re proud to announce that the 2019 Sound Series will be a first ever solo exhibition by artist and musician Matt Earle. Matt is a legendary figure in Australian experimental music circles, known for his bands (including Stasis Duo, xnobbqx, Club Sound Witches), his founding of hotbed communal noise spaces (like Real Bad Music and Life Groove), and for his bewitchingly-unclassifiable label imprint Breakdance the Dawn that has released hundreds of cassettes by Australian artists all packaged in Matt’s signature black-and-white photocopied style.

Although Matt is most known (although not well known) for his music, we consider his work as a total aesthetic encompassing visual as well as sonic and other terrains. We’re excited to see and hear what he does with an exhibition. To help usher the show into being, and to keep up comms with Matt - who lives with his partner artist and musician Nicola Morton, off-grid in Hunter Valley, NSW - we’ve invited Melbourne underground music personality Patrick O’Brien to take on the responsibility as guest curator. Pat has championed Mat’s music over many years through his radio show O’Tomorrow on Triple R and his various underground record stores (Sunshine and Grease, AG Picks). Thanks to Patrick and Matt for taking this on.

Here’s what Patrick has to say about Matt Earle. Matt and his breakdancethedawn label - which he started back in the mid 90's with a garbage bag of recycled tapes that had previously been used to hold audio-readings for the blind - are closer to the tradition of folk music and folk culture than anything we recognise as the music industry. "Folk" simply being things that happen with the purpose of serving folk, and not the market; largely unorganised and undocumented things that are there as a result of humans simply being there. Fuck the market. Fuck your career and however many hits on your YouTube channel. People come together to play music, share time, eat curry, drink booze. Matt's work doesn't resist attention but it certainly doesn't go begging for it, as most things are designed to do in an economy so competitive and desperate that if you're not on the take your validity is questioned. The fact that most music focused community radio in this country doesn't even know of this label's existence is somewhat disturbing to me as, you guessed it, 90 percent of the broadcasting very unimaginatively, serves the market. Is that all there is? Clearly, that is not all there is. But I doubt that Matt is losing any sleep over it. Matt Earle: breakdancethedawn is an exhibition curated by Pat O'Brien, presented by Liquid Architecture and BLINDSIDE as part of Sound Series 2019.

During the exhibition, we made over 24 hours of recordings...

[5]This tuesday at MIUC we invite all citizens of the sonoverse to congregate at Bar Open for a sonodemocratically improvised abstraction of the last twelve months in the most efficient manner we know of: open-member free-form noisecore obliteration. The auditory commission will be led by a five-member board, consisting of bass and frequency terrorism experts Nik Kennedy and Mark Groves, guitar and textural infrastructure consultants Simon Karis and Chris Nylstoch and chaired by percussion and secretary of auricular border expansion Scott Viney. Two days after the anniversary of the current Australian regime the Abbottoir board will provide three heated blasts of musical debate centring around the positive, neutral and negative aspects thereof. Also voicing their tonal opinions will be a host of variously gruntled and disgruntled members of the noise, jazz, rock, hip-hop and trans-genre community throughout the venue, with six microphones available to anyone feeling the need to vent an aleatoric viewpoint. And as an added incentive to come join Team Make It Up the night will be entirely free, until the age of entitlement ends the following tuesday. • ABBOTTOIR (an evening of politicalish noisecore) feat. Mark Groves (Bass), Nik Kennedy (Bass), Simon Karis (Guitar), Chris Nylstoch (Guitar) & Scott Viney (Drums) The Make It Up”
